Found out their much touted "Warranty" is worthless to the consumer

DeWalt - Found out their much touted "Warranty" is worthless to the consumer
My husband WAS a DeWalt fanboy. We own chainsaws, weed trimmers, fans, blowers, drills, impacts, mitre saws, saw stands, circular saws, cutoffs, jigsaws, reciprocating saws, shop vacs, hand vacs, jobsite speakers, stools, lights, worm saws, two kinds of sanders, jackets, and a ton of batteries and chargers. He purchased a drywall cutting tool last year from Amazon that quit working the second time he used it. No problem, we assumed, contact DeWalt and use their much touted warranty. The good news, yes it's under warranty. The bad news, it will cost us, the consumer, $69 plus shipping to get this tool fixed under their so called "warranty". The tool only cost $89 brand new last year on sale through Amazon. How much is DeWalt going to charge me if my expensive Mitre Saw fails? I expected them to either replace or fix my warranty free of charge if it failed, not to have to pay the same cost as I purchased it to get it fixed "under warranty". You've been warned, their warranty is worthless. Wish I'd have known before I spent tens of thousands of dollars on their line. I will look to a different manufacturer in the future, Dewalt, you lost a long time loyal customer. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Goodbye.

Loss:
$90
Pros:
  • Wonderful tools when they work
Cons:
  • Obviously they lie about their warranty
  • Dont honor their much touted warranty on their tools

Preferred solution: Fixed under warranty, not me paying to get it fixed under warranty. I could buy a new one for the price they want "under warranty".

User's recommendation: Buy Milwaukee

Pissed with your company

My shop is full of DeWalt tools which are great tools. Expensive but good which I thought was a good investment. I have now changed my mind and I have bought my LAST DeWalt product!! Good product but bad company. My problem is that I own a DeWalt DW708 sliding compound miter saw that I paid about $500 for 20 years ago (2023, still have the receipt). It is still a great saw, cuts good, built in positions are still good with no adjustments for 45 and 90 degree cuts. I can replace it with another of your saws that does the same thing for about the same price, but it will be a COLD DAY IN *** before I do. If I have to replace it, but at my age, probably not, I will buy one of your COMPETATORS. The issue is that the plastic miter and bevel pointers red paint has worn off so that they are useless!!! Have looked and even contacted this company and they have been DISCONUED obsolete. That does not say well for your company or what you think of both your product and your customers. These silly, essential parts would cost less than a nickel to produce but you SEE fit to not continue to make them for your customers. GOD how I dislike that, you and every other company that does that. I HAVE BOUGHT MY LAST DeWalt product!!! Not sure but I would bet all this began when BLACK AND DECKER bought the company. AND in my opinion is the sorriest manufacturer of tools sold in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA... I will buy from your competitor's before I buy another of your products. Makitas or Bosch are rated to be great tools.

Cons:
  • No support for good but older products

Preferred solution: the obsolete/discontinued items for my to be available to me for my saw

User's recommendation: Do not buy if you expect it to be usefull for more than 10 to 15 years, no support or parts available

Broken drill

My drill stopped working. DeWalt.com is the worst customer service center I have ever called. I never was able to speak with a person. The bot was totally unacceptable!
